Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Ziad Nakad – the world of evening gowns and special occasion wear is full of phenomenal talent to admire and adore. I’d like to add one more name to the list of incredibly talented couturiers, who create evening, cocktail and prom dresses that have no competition. Tarik Ediz, a well known Turkish designer, certainly earned his place on the list of special occasion kings, and it all started with one prom dress.
Tank Ediz (aka Tarik Ediz) started in 1987 in a small boutique in Bursa city, then established a small atelier, and finally (in 1996) created his first well known evening gown for his daughter’s prom. That very gown generated enough orders from his atelier customers to prompt the beginning of the Tarik Ediz brand as we know it today. While father’s love may have inspired his first design, today thousands of women are inspired by his talent. Tarik Ediz gowns are sold in elite stores in 30+ countries, and I am absolutely sure that you have admired many of his designs scrolling through Facebook or Pinterest without even knowing the name of the creator.
